Girls Road Trip – Nashville to Asheville

Girls Road Trip

I’ve been taking the week off from life and spending this playtime with my mom and youngest sister.  We hit the road at a leisurely pace on Wednesday morning and drove from Nashville, TN to Asheville, NC.  My time off has been a much needed break from work, my business, and just normal life.  I just did not realize how much I needed this playtime.

Usually when I travel I am a passenger and I spend the entire time on my laptop – reading, catching up on email, working on my Etsy shop or my blog, working, etc.  This week, so far, I’ve turned on my laptop a couple times, but did not do much.  I was starting to wonder if I had already burned out on blogging and my business.

Last night (Friday) we traveled from Asheville to Charlotte.  This morning I woke up craving to write about our trip.  So I’m not burned out, I just needed to have some playtime!

The Unexpected Biltmore

After driving from Nashville to Asheville on Wednesday, we spent Thursday and Friday touring the Biltmore estate.  We all love touring old historical homes.  I expected it to be extravagant, beautiful and interesting.  There were so many unexpected things about the estate.

  1. It is still owned by the family and runs as a business with no government assistance.
  2. Everything was very reasonably priced (IMHO) – the tickets, the food, the gift shops, the extra tours.  Even parking was free.
  3. The people who work there are genuinely happy to be there.  They are more than friendly and knowledgeable, they truly care about doing their best and going the extra mile to answer questions and assist the guests.

I may think of more things later, I am, after all, on vacation.  I just wanted to write a quick post this morning and to share some of my pictures with you.  I don’t have any pictures of the interior of the house as they don’t allow photography inside the house.  I’m hoping to at least find some sites I can link to when I write more about this trip in a future post.

Enjoy the picture gallery!  If you’ve been on a girls road trip or to the Biltmore, I’d love to hear about your favorite memory.  Please share in the comments at the end of this post.

Blessings,

Lauree

  1. I certainly enjoyed this girl’s trip! You are spot on in your blog about how wonderful it was. I would recommend the Biltmore to anyone! Be sure to allow plenty of time. I am very grateful that we planned for two days. Can’t wait until we go back!

    1. I made a list of more blogpost ideas inspired by our trip to the Biltmore. Hopefully we can go back in about five years. I can’t wait to our next girls day trip!

  2. We did a Nashville to Asheville trip a few years ago and loved it (but we only were stopping through in Asheville). Didn’t get to see the Biltmore, but it looked awesome!

    1. The Biltmore was awesome and so impressive. Of course I came home with all kinds of blog-post ideas and home decor ideas. It’s the perfect place to go for inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
