Vinyl Cutting Tools & Supplies

One of my creative endeavors for my home and my Etsy shop is to create vinyl decorated signs, tiles, and chargers.  I use a Silhouette Cameo to create this fun and inspirational decorations.  After being asked a few times, I thought I’d create this page to share my “best kept secret” for purchasing vinyl cutting tools & supplies for my creations.  These are all affiliate links…so I’ll get paid when you purchase at no additional cost to you.  Thanks for supporting my blog!

SILHOUETTE CAMEO & SOFTWARE

Can’t do anything without the machine!  The latest version of the Silhouette Cameo has some magic I’d love, but I haven’t invested in it YET.

I really like and highly recommend the added features of the Designer Software.

Roll Feeder – I just got this for Christmas and it was super useful when creating a large job for a friend of mine.

VINYL & TRANSFER TAPE

I’ve used several brands of vinyl and transfer tape.  As for the vinyl, everything I’ve tried has worked great.  I mainly use the glossy / permanent variety, but I have tried the matte / repositionable vinyl.  Every time I purchase any for my business I run the numbers and find the cheapest per square foot.  Here are a few I’ve tried (the prices change, so be sure to do the math to get the best price).

You’ll need transfer tape to transfer the cut vinyl to the medium you are decorating.  I’ve used several varieties of transfer tape – lined, without lines, white and clear.  By far my favorite is the clear with lines.

TOOLS

You’ll need a few other tools to make your creations successful.

Mats are a must have, whether you are cutting vinyl, paper, card stock, fabric, and more you’ll need an adhesive mat.  You’ll want a 12×12 mat and a 12×24 mat.

Scrapers

If you buy rolls of vinyl, instead of sheets, one of these can make it easier to cut sections off the roll.

I just could not resist this PINK cover for my Silhouette:

Of course you’ll need to buy images to use with your machine, vinyl cutting tools and supplies.  I have a few of my creation for sale as digital downloads in my Etsy shop.

    1. It took me a while to try other transfer tapes. I stuck (pardon the pun) with the Silhouette brand for quite a while. I’m really glad I tried that clear. It makes a huge difference. I do reuse my tape if I’m doing several pieces at a time. It’ll usually work well enough through two transfers, especially if the pieces are small. Happy cutting!
