Half Wall Makeover – Flat Paint, Gloss Paint Project
There was once an ugly wall that had to have a makeover! This half wall divides our family room and kitchen. The previous homeowners had painted it brown on one side and cream on the other side. On top of that, the paint they used on the trim was peeling. The most annoying part is that they did such a sloppy paint job, which is a problem throughout the house and I am slowly rectifying it.
Last fall I purchased the navy blue paint in both flat and super-gloss from my neighborhood Sherwin-Williams store. I received the stencils and other supplies for my birthday in September. (I had put the supplies on my amazon wish list and they got the hint). In November, (I told you I am SLOWLY rectifying the problem; if only I could be financial independent and did not work a full time corporate job), I finally went to work to transform the drab brown into something lovely.
Pinterest Success!
This wall makeover was such a fun paint effect to do. If you want to know how to have your own tone-on-tone, dramatic wall makeover, click here for the instructions. I plan on doing the same to the wall that has the fireplace on it as well…some day.
My Tip
Use more than one stencil – I taped three together and used them as one. It made the whole process much faster.
Have you tried this paint effect or any others? What are your Pinterest successes?

Thanks! It was a pretty quick project, too.
I love the finished tone on tone look. What problems, I’d any, did you have with the stencils? Thanks for sharing on the Living with Style Linky Party!
Thanks Pam! One problem I ran into was that after a few passes with the stencils got full of paint. After a while I had to clean them.
I’ve always been a fan of the tone on tone look. Love the color you chose and the stencil. Thank you for sharing at Merry Monday!
