More Than A Style
Abstract style is really more art than style. You probably would not say the style of any particular room is abstract (unless you have a messy teenage girl living with you). Minimalism is a decor style that is perfect fit for an abstract piece of art. A colorful abstract and detailed painting might be perfect in a Boho styled home. Some African art is very abstract as well.
According to wikipedia, “Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure from accurate representation can be slight, partial, or complete.” The abstract artist takes liberties with colors, shapes and perception.
It’s Personal
The artwork you choose for your home, whatever your decor style, is very personal. It is more than matching your color scheme. It should be something you enjoy looking at every time you see it. It reveals something about you to your guests. The perfect piece brings texture and sets the tone for your space. Abstract art is a great way to express your personality in your home.
Express Yourself
As I hunted for explanations of Abstract, I read about it on wikipedia and I found lots of other sites where I could buy abstract artwork. On Pinterest I found lots of blogs about how to create your own abstract paintings, even if you are not an artist. I might try that! What better way to express your personality than by creating and displaying your own artwork.

Personally I find abstract art to be mesmerizing. I think the mono versions of the art are relaxing and the multi-colored versions are energizing. Creating the Pinterest board to go with this post was fun. Abstract art is not just paintings. It’s bowls, sculptures, stained glass, photography and more. When you look at the Pinterest board be sure to comment on the ones you really like.
