Is Beach Style Your Style?
Beach style definitely fits my mood starting around May 1st each year and ends as soon as I start decorating for Fall. Is beach your style for clothing as in cute little sundresses and straw hats? Maybe you have a Florida room or your whole home decked out with reminders of the sun and sand.
So what is “Beach Style”?
Some might call it coastal. Think of lots of cool whites, sandy tan and pastels, especially light blue. The beach has lots of textures and your beach style should, too. Look for natural fibers, comfortable fabrics, light finishes, wicker, rattan, and weathered finishes.
Other versions that might be considered beach style include tropical and nautical. Those each have very different color pallets from the coastal variety. Vibrant colors of deep green, red, and bright yellow are more tropical style; while white, black, red, navy blue and yellow is more of a nautical style. Nautical would include thick ropes, boats and anchors.
Is Your Home the Beach or is the Beach in Your Home?
As I shared in another post or two, I decorate my entry with each season or Holiday. As I write this our entry is decked out to remind us of all the fun we have on vacation. I used burlap as the background to mimic the sand. There are glass vases filled with shells we’ve gathered through the years and coconut candles. I know there are lots of “beach” and “sea” scented candles. I just love the coconut scented ones – they remind me of tanning oils and lotions. What scent reminds you most of the beach?
Someday I am going to have a beach styled Christmas tree – is that going too far?
