Entry Redo Continued – Mirror Makeover
Perfect Accent Paint Color
When I was trying to decide on the perfect paint color for the entry, I purchased several different samples. As it turns out one of those samples is the perfect accent color for this space. Don’t you love it when things work out like that. You can read HERE about my search for the perfect blue/green that ended up being the perfect gray for the walls in our entry.
Mirror Makeover
I already had this awesome brown and gold, large mirror which I had purchased at a yard sale a few years ago. It has served me well and I love the beveled edges of the mirror. It just needed a face-lift to match the space.

I actually was not sure if I wanted to rehang the mirror in this space. I was toying with a few other ideas, but when I mentioned it to my family, they said they liked having the mirror there. So I had to make it match, right?!?
TIP! Paint samples are the perfect size for making small batches of chalk paint for little projects.
After making a small batch of chalk paint from the paint sample, I got to work taking the mirror for pretty to gorgeous. It took a while to get into all the nooks and crannies of the design in the mirror. I used a 1 inch paint brush to thickly paint the frame then I used an artist paintbrush to work the paint into the fine details of the frame.
After a few coats of paint, waxing and buffing I added the final detail – a touch of silver leaf. It was pretty easy with this metallic finish cream.

It’s perfect in this space and my family got to keep the mirror in the entry and I got to have fun recreating and writing about it.
Blessings,
Lauree
